In December 2016 I gave a talk for Jesmond Library in Newcastle, on the subject of Border Ballads. I chose some remarkable songs from around St Mary’s Loch which is surely one of the most beautiful places on earth. Since then I’ve given the talk many times, and people have asked if there was a book with the history, tunes and stories to take away afterwards.
